LK Hjelle x Jonas Stokke

LK Hjelle is one of the few Norwegian furniture manufacturers that still designs and produces furniture in their own factory in Sykkylven, a tradition since the 1940s. As "The Unconventional," they challenge norms, and in collaboration with Jonas Stokke, they explore new materials and forms with a focus on craftsmanship, functionality, and durability.

About LK Hjelle

LK Hjelle is not like everyone else. The company is not found in every home, every store, or every office. As one of the few Norwegian furniture manufacturers that still designs and produces furniture in its own factory, LK Hjelle has maintained this tradition since the 1940s in Sykkylven, Norway’s furniture capital. The position as "The Unconventional" inspires all employees to stand tall and challenge the norm. This also aims to inspire customers, designers, and retailers. The products are built to last, ensuring that no one should want or need to discard an LK Hjelle product. This vision ensures that screws are always double-checked, the best suppliers are chosen, and the furniture is made easy to repair, so it can be renewed and enjoyed for many, many years to come.

Designbrief

LK Hjelle has long wanted to develop a new side table. The brief stated that in addition to having visual qualities, the product should also be designed for easy replacement of parts. It should also be flat-packable for easy distribution and a lower footprint.
