Are Mokkelbost
Are Mokkelbost is a multi-disciplinary artist based in Oslo, Norway.
Since graduating from the Oslo Academy of Fine Arts in 2002, his practice has moved between art, music and design, in solo and collaborative efforts. He teaches regularly. Collage has been a reoccurring method throughout, both as works on paper and translated into work in other techniques such as sound, glass, clocks, mural reliefs, textiles and furniture. This approach can be seen in a long range of public artworks made during the last 15 years
«As a visual artist, furniture and interior design is a more recent endeavor for me. It has grown out of my interest in the intersection between everyday life and art, such as public artworks, art integrated into architecture and the home of artists – to name a few examples. What started as a hobby side-project is now becoming part of my overall practice, where I often apply a methodology informed by collage. I tend to follow an ad-hoc´ian approach exploring the potential of found and upcycled materials, combined with eclectic, visual quotations and often in dialogue with the specific site, customer and/or artisans.»
