Artek
Stoppested
Artek was founded in Helsinki by Alvar and Aino Aalto, Maire Gullichsen, and Nils-Gustav Hahl with a vision to promote modern living culture through design and architecture. Today, Artek produces functional and timeless furniture, lighting, and interior objects by both Finnish and international designers. With classics that have shaped homes and public spaces for 90 years, Artek remains a strong global ambassador for Nordic design heritage.
Artek turns 90 – and invites the world to celebrate
Artek is celebrating its 90th anniversary — and you're invited to join the festivities. The anniversary year began earlier this year with a furniture collection featuring Tove Jansson’s beloved Moomin characters.
At Designers Saturday, we mark the occasion with a special installation and a limited-edition collection in collaboration with Marimekko. This partnership merges Marimekko’s iconic patterns by Maija Isola with Alvar Aalto’s timeless furniture classics, crafted using marquetry techniques on birch veneer. The result is a tribute to Finnish design, sustainability, and shared values.
