LZF Lamps: Where Light Meets Craft LZF was co-founded in 1994 by Spanish artist Mariví Calvo and Australian musician Sandro Tothill. What began as a creative experiment with wood veneer soon became a design journey defined by craftsmanship and innovation. From this spirit emerged Timberlite®—LZF’s patented technique for treating natural wood veneer, making it both flexible and durable. This material, shaped by hand in LZF’s Valencia-based workshop, gives rise to sculptural lighting that celebrates the warmth and poetry of wood. Over the years, a talented roster of designers have contributed to a collection of lamps that fuse artistry with atmosphere—lighting made with soul, by people who care.
LZF Lamps has been a creative hub since its founding, embracing a unique blend of art, design, craftsmanship, innovation, and sustainability. Renowned for its mastery of natural wood veneer, LZF continues to expand its material palette, now working with elements like hand-blown borosilicate glass and textiles. Every lamp is handcrafted in LZF’s vibrant factory in Chiva, Valencia, where a team of skilled artisans shape FSC-certified wood veneers into luminous, sculptural forms.
Rooted in tradition yet always forward-looking, LZF is deeply committed to preserving artisanal knowledge while pushing the boundaries of material and light. Its lamps have illuminated spaces across the globe and are considered icons of contemporary Spanish design.
The company’s contributions have earned it over thirty-five national and international awards. Among its proudest achievements are Spain’s National Innovation and Design Award (2020) and the National Craftsmanship Award (2011) — LZF is the only Spanish company to have received both distinctions.
