SM3 presents USM Haller Re-Framed
USM Modular Furniture is a modular furniture system that can be endlessly reconfigured and reused. The Swiss system, designed in 1965 by Fritz Haller and Ulrich Schäerer, celebrates its 60th anniversary this year. With this year's Designers Saturday theme of Re-Purposed, the USM Haller system's DNA—direct reuse with endless creativity and functionality—is more relevant than ever.
Studio M3 is setting up the USM Re-Framed installation in the main room at TAD Kunstbar in Skøyen. Ten designers have re-designed and built their own bench based on a used USM Modular Furniture frame.
The starting point is a USM Haller structure from the 1980s that came from large, old filing cabinets at the Kredittkassen headquarters in Majorstua, Oslo.
Using this frame, they have built a functional seating unit using upcycled or reused materials they selected and sourced themselves. The furniture will be used during the DS Talks.
